Samson Mataraso
Bio

Samson is a PhD student in Biomedical Informatics at Stanford. He received his BS in electrical engineering and computer sciences from UC Berkeley in 2018. He previously worked in the Gehlenborg Lab at Harvard Medical School where he developed a patient health record (paper) using SMART on FHIR technology to create interactive visualizations for electronic medical record (EMR) data. He also worked in the Snyder Lab at Stanford School of Medicine where he developed predictive models for insulin resistance from multiomic data (paper). Samson also lead the data science team at Dascena prior to starting his PhD in 2020.

Interests

Samson is interested in the development of machine learning methods for problems in biology and medicine. Specifically, he is interested in how we can modify these methods to incorporate prior biologic or medical knowledge about a particular system.
