Saber earned his BSc in Electrical and Control Engineering at the University of Tehran. His interest in computational modeling of the brain and mind led him to pursue a PhD at Indiana University Bloomington, where he studied AI—particularly deep neural networks—as models of the brain, focusing on visual development and how both humans and AI learn to “see” from experience.
Upon completing his PhD, he became interested in applying AI to healthcare and joined Aghaeepour Lab as a postdoctoral fellow in November 2024. His research focuses on patient phenotyping and long-term patient trajectory modeling using electronic health records and other data modalities.
In his free time, he enjoys exploring hiking trails in the Bay Area and social dancing, especially swing and salsa.
